Dennis Potter, MSW, CSW, FAAETS
Dennis Potter, MSW, FAAETS, CCISM, is a retired social worker who helped to form one of the first community-based Crisis Response Teams in Michigan in 1986 and the Michigan Crisis Response Association in 1988.
Dennis is currently the CEO of Kantu Consultants. He is an Approved Instructor for all of the ICISF Core Courses and is a member of the ICISF Faculty since 2006.
In 2011, Dennis was honored with the ICISF Excellence in Training and Educational Award. In 2021 Dennis was given the Grand Rapids Police Department “Exceptional Civilian Service Award” for 22 years of working with their Peer Program.
Dennis has presented at many local, state, regional, national and international conferences. He has been a presenter at the last Fourteen International Critical Incident Stress Foundation World Congresses. Dennis was awarded the ICISF Excellence in Training and Education Award at the 2011 World Congress. In 2021, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award from ICISF for his contributions to the field of CISM over the years.
He has written articles for various journals on the topic of working with Critical Incident Stress. Dennis coauthored the model for Post Action Staff Support which is featured in the ICISF Advanced Training Workbook and the book “Practical Concepts and Training Exercises For Crisis Response Teams” with Paul LaBerteaux and Jim Stevens.
